For undergraduate applicants:

Important: UCT states that it does not consider late undergraduate application requests. The 31 July 2026 deadline should therefore be treated as the final date for a new undergraduate application.

How to Submit Your Application Online

Follow these steps to complete your application.

Step 1: Visit the official UCT application website

Go to the UCT Online Applications portal and select the option to begin an application.

You will need a working email address and either your South African identity number or, for international applicants, your passport number.

Step 2: Create your application

Follow the instructions on the application portal to create your applicant profile.

Use an email address that you check regularly because UCT uses email to communicate important application updates.

Step 3: Complete your personal information

Enter your details exactly as they appear on your official documents.

Current Grade 12 learners should provide their school details and academic information as requested.

UCT states that current school learners must submit examination results from Grade 11 through September of Grade 12. Failure to provide the required results can delay the processing of an application.

If you have already completed matric, provide your final school-leaving results as requested.

UCT allows undergraduate applicants to apply for up to two programmes.

International applicants applying for an undergraduate LLB must write the Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AL) component of the NBT.

For the 2027 cycle, 3 October 2026 is listed as the last opportunity to write the NBTs for admission to UCT.

Academic Records for Transfer Students

If you previously studied at another university or tertiary institution, prepare your academic transcripts and records.

UCT advises transferring students to submit their transcripts and academic records as early as possible.

Proof of Address Rules

Applicants should not assume that proof of address is automatically required for every UCT undergraduate application.

The current UCT application instructions focus on identification, academic results, transcripts and other programme-specific documentation.

If UCT’s application system specifically requests proof of address for your application, provide a recent document showing:

Your full name
Residential address
Relevant date or issue information

Do not use proof of address as a replacement for your ID, passport or academic documents.

International Applicants

International applicants should prepare their documentation well before the relevant deadlines.

UCT lists 30 September 2026 as the deadline for supporting documents for international applicants. These include documents such as:

Predicted grades
Academic transcripts
Secondary school results
English translations of documents where required
Proof of English language proficiency where applicable

UCT states that incomplete international applications may be cancelled if the required documentation is not submitted.

International applicants should also allow enough time for visa and immigration arrangements after receiving an offer.

Application Fee & Payment Details

UCT requires an application fee for most applications.

For the 2027 application cycle, the published fees are:

Undergraduate and postgraduate applicants from outside the SADC region: R300
Graduate School of Business applications from South Africa and African citizens/residents: R1,000
Graduate School of Business applications from outside Africa: US$100

The application fee is non-refundable.

UCT students and graduates are generally exempt from the application fee, except when applying for a Graduate School of Business programme.

Accepted payment methods include:

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
Direct bank deposit

For standard UCT applications, EFT payments are made to the university’s designated account using the 11196 + campus ID as the payment reference.

Important: Paying the application fee does not guarantee admission to UCT.

What If You Miss the UCT 2027 Application Deadline?

If you missed the 31 July 2026 undergraduate application deadline, you should act quickly but should not assume that UCT will accept a late application.
